The AFL’s annual horse trading period is in full swing with players and draft picks changing hands between the competition’s 18 clubs. One of the most anticipated swaps has been completed, with Three-Time Premiership Hawk Bradley Hill joining Fremantle in exchange for Pick 23.

A nice piece of business for both clubs with Fremantle acquiring a young player with premiership experience and Hawthorn receiving adequate compensation in return for a homesick young man.  For Hill, it provides an opportunity for a family reunion of sorts, teaming him up with brother Stephen in Fremantle purple. If that is not an excuse to look at famous sibling team-mates I don’t know what is, so come with me as we do just that.

Venus & Serena Williams

What a great place to start our list, both incredible singles players it’s no surprise they are a formidable doubles partnership. Two Olympic Gold Medals and 14 Grand Slam Doubles Titles a testament to one of the best sibling teams ever.

Andrew & Matthew Johns

Five-Eight and Half Back are two of the most important positions on a Rugby League field and are the position of choice for our next siblings. They filled these roles for club, state and country winning a Premiership in 1997 and World Cup in 1995.

Gordon & Syd Coventry

Brothers Gordon and Syd were members of one of the greatest VFL/AFL teams of all time, Collingwood’s ‘Machine Team’ that won four consecutive premierships. Both vital cogs, Syd the 1927 Brownlow Medallist and Captain and Gordon the greatest goal kicker of the age and holder of the record for most goals for 60 years.

Mark & Steve Waugh

No list of famous sporting siblings would be complete without these two. No pair of siblings have appeared in more ODI’s or Test Matches than Mark and Steve Waugh. Together they helped the Australian Cricket Team to the top of the pile in both forms of the game including the 1999 World Cup.

The Chappells

These brothers are probably the most well-known set of Australian siblings in New Zealand! Apart from their notoriety across the ditch, Ian, Greg and Trevor are a rare set of brothers to play Test Cricket for Australia. Three brothers representing their country would almost be enough but Greg and Ian both captaining Australia guarantees their spot. Their Grandfather Victor Richardson also captained Australia too.
